Travels

Home XX/XX/1997    Research for truck starts.  Nag wife for several years.  Cram her in the back of the Ranger while camping!

07/01/1999    Received notice from CFO (Wife) to buy what ever I want.

07/24/1999    Sold a bunch of stock for financing down payment (should have sold it all!).

08/02/1999    Truck ordered though Columbia Fleet Inc.

11/15/1999    The new truck is adopted.  Garage was not cleared for it, so it's first night is spent outside.

11/16/1999    That morning, the truck was covered in frost and the name Frosty was given to it.

11/17/2000    The maiden voyage takes the new truck to the lower Deschutes River area.  Here are a few of the pics near Shear Falls and areas on the near by hiways.  (borrowed a camera from a friend)

Didn't get a digital camera until now....You missed some good fishing, camping, and a trip to California.

2/2/2002    Fall River Falls area outside of Sun river, Oregon.  There was tons of snow in the area.

3/2/2002    Frosty at the first Oregon Super Duty Club meeting.  We had a wonderful turnout and a great group of owners.

3/25/2002    Here we are at Grass Valley (hwy-97 south of Klamath Falls, OR) rest stop with Frosty towing the 1979 Fleetwood from the grandparents (Thanks Ralph and  Lucile).  Before we left, we had the bearings repacked and replaced to worn tires.  Can you believe it, this camper has always been stored in a shed, so there is very little sun damage.  We'll be doing some fixing to it  and camping in style soon!  No more rocks in the back for us.

4/6/2002    Trailer under restore, a good washing and she looks nice.  So far, I've re-done 90% of the  plumbing of the water lines, painted bumper/tongue, new vents, roof coating, a few light replacements, and a few seals resealed.  Luckily the gas range and water heater work.  The awning is in great shape.  Had it out, only didn't have the blender out for margarita's.  Still need to work on the refrigerator and furnace.  Note the new hubcaps that I got on super sale $5 for the set of four!

4/15/2002    Measured the actual drop on the rear end when the trailer is put on (empty except for a full tank of water).  Total drop is 1-3/8".  The front looks like it could stand about 1-1/2" lift in the front still, so the leveling kit might happen after all.

5/4/2002    We're in Silver Falls Campground for the second Oregon Super duty Club meeting.  That morning, the water pump started going crazy.  Figures, it broke a line I didn't replace.  No water for the remainder of the weekend!

5/14/2002    The fixing of the broken lines has been completed, so now 98% of the plumbing has been replaced.  I will hope the remaining stay intact for a few more trips.

5/16/2002    The shower restore project has been completed.  It involved new fiberglass wall material and a ton of liquid nails.  It looks like it's from the nineties now.  I wish I took pictures of the vinyl material that was in there.  There's more around inside.

10/22/2002    With the new set of Mountain Crushers, we took the rig out.  We wound up spending the weekend in a drizzly rain at Fort Stevens, OR.  The park was great, the ocean was cold.  We took the bikes as well.  I rode my GT Zaskar LE on the beach.  Big mistake!  That thing started to rust the components before I could clean it.  Wheels looked good then....later the wheels were replaced with Scorpio V's.  Mountain Crushers are creakers.  Design issue.
